Samsung’s Galaxy S III is a smash; Q3 sales expected to hit 15 million

Analysts at JPMorgan estimate that Samsung will sell as many as 15 million Galaxy S III smartphones in the third quarter this year, according to French newspaper Les Echos. It is also believed that the South Korean manufacturer sold about 6.5 million Galaxy S III smartphones between April and June, which suggests Samsung sold more than 21 million Galaxy S III handsets in six months. With its latest smartphone, Samsung took a new approach. Global availability of the Galaxy S II was spread out and the handset took months to reach the U.S., however Samsung launched the Galaxy S III in numerous worldwide markets within weeks of its official unveiling. The new flagship smartphone will be available from nearly 300 mobile carriers across 147 countries by the end of July.
